Chepstowe Vineyard sits on the north-eastern shoulder of a windy ridge at Carngham, Victoria, 25kms west of Ballarat.
The Carngham area is known for its short but hot and dry summers and bitterly cold winters. Protected from harsh frosts by the unique topography of the area, it is the perfect place for growing cool climate grapes — including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz.
The extended ripening period allows for the development of complex fruit flavour and combined with low yields enables us to produce fruit with great concentration of flavour and intensity.
Annie Wild2024-01-23Thanks Google for suggesting this vineyard. One of those wineries I know I'll visit again many times as much to chat to the owner and cuddle the dogs as to drink wine. Though the wines were also divine! Small range to taste but enjoyed every one and left with three bottles. Our two dogs were welcome and even allowed off lead to explore the yard with their two new Kelpie friends. Can't wait til you get your restaurant up and running Matt! Get a Facebook page up so we can follow and keep in the loop for when that happens. ;) Thanks for the friendly hospitality!Rosalie2023-12-28Our host was very friendly and entertaining. The wines are exquisite and we really enjoyed our time. I would recommend!raushan Chatterjee2023-04-25Rose and Chardonnay are to die for!Dapeng Liu2023-01-22Matt asked me to leave my google review about his wines. I didn’t want to. He only has very limited produce and I don’t want any others find this hidden treasure. So please don’t try his rose and chardonnay.Sherredan Maher2022-12-31Wonderful little winery! Matt was very hospitable and the wine was delish! We'll be back!Jay Keating2022-12-16My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time at Chepstow Vineyard. Not only does the wine speak for itself (We were fans of the adorably named "Rosie") but Matt, the owner's interpersonal skills and accommodating nature made it a special experience in itself. Keep up the good work Matt! Cheers!Peter Rolph2022-11-05Would recommend to anyone. Location is in a beautiful spot, just call ahead to organise a tasting. No flash trimmings in the wine shed, and no need - spectacular wines dont need the flashy distractions (looking at you, Mornington). Owner is increadibly down to earth and hospital. The dogs are great as well, our puppy had the time of her life. We particularly enjoyed the Rose, and a one of a kind Chardonnay (personal favourite so far). Would happily go back again.Isabella2022-10-31Amazing winery that is well worth the drive - the owner is really friendly and down the earth, we felt very welcome! They had lovely wines that we can’t wait to enjoy at home!Mark Taylor2022-05-26Great winery off the beaten track and a better experience than the wineries-cum-art galleries of the Yarra. Pearler of a Chardonnay.Ogg2021-01-02Hidden gem, will come back.
